Some live sessions may be provided for later viewing if needed for vacations/leave etc.

Course Description:
Public scrutiny of law enforcement operations is currently at unprecedented levels.  This creates additional challenges for government auditors working to evaluate risks and conduct audit engagements related to law enforcement operations.  Law enforcement audits differ from other governmental audits and can be hugely successful when performed in consideration of risks, procedures, and the culture unique to the law enforcement environment.  This course provides government auditors insights into law enforcement culture as well as specific high-risk factors and critical information regarding numerous high-risk operations.  In this interactive course, students will participate in practical exercises involving high-risk law enforcement operations.

LEIA-301 Course objectives:
Participants will develop a basic working knowledge of

  • History of Law Enforcement / oversight and audits in law enforcement
  • Law Enforcement Accreditation Standards
  • Law Enforcement Risk assessment factors
  • Patrol operations
  • Use of force (UOF)
  • Body Worn Cameras / Dashcams
  • Investigative case management / Detectives
  • Professional Standards / Internal Affairs
  • Property and evidence operations
  • Special operations / Drugs / Undercover Ops.
  • Tactical operations / SWAT / K9, etc.

This class is for Government Auditors – 16 hours of CPE

  • With any level of experience conducting law enforcement audits
  • Interested in performing law enforcement audit engagements
  • Law enforcement personnel who have earned their LEIAC designation

CPE CREDITS, PER GAGAS 4.21, 4.23N. Nine 1.5 hr. sessions will be covered during the three-week online course. Session one will be on 11/5/2024 and the final session (9) will be on 11/22/24. Total 13.5 hrs. online plus class exercises account for 2.5 hrs. for a course total of 16 hrs. CPE.

Here is a little help getting connected:

When you click ‘Join Meeting’ in your email, it will open a page to engage in the meeting.

If you don’t have Webex installed, it will automatically download the file. You can click and install the file if you have permission to do so on your computer. This will give you the best viewing experience with the class.

If you wish to download the app and pre-install it, you can click here. Choose Webex Meetings and follow the installation prompts.

If you do have the software pre-installed, the web browser will detect it and ask if you want to open the meeting in the software. Click ‘Open Cisco Webex Start’ to get into the meeting.

If you cannot install or utilize the software, you can click on ‘Join from your browser’ and it will open the meeting.

It will prompt you for permission to access your camera and microphone. You will need to allow this to participate in the meeting.

You can then enter your name and email address and click ‘Next’ to join the meeting.

When you connect, you can control your microphone and video status from the bar at the bottom of the screen. While in the meeting, you can get the speaker’s attention by clicking on the button with the three vertical dots and selecting ‘Raise Hand’. By clicking on the middle button (person symbol) you can see the other participants in the session. You can also message the presenter or attendees during the session using the chat bubble (blue) as well.

Please mute your microphone when you connect. You can un-mute it when you have a question.
